Windows 10 – One of the installers for this device cannot perform the installation at this time
Had this error today,
This was just trying to install a new video card. Took a minute to find, but followed the signs to the registry where I found DeviceInstallDisabled=1. Not sure how it was set or if they had installed some protection software installed that set it, but it may be a good idea with all of the junk updates that keep replacing some things.
The actual key is here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DeviceInstall\Parameters\DeviceInstallDisabledIn DeviceInstallDisabled set parameter to “0 ” from “1” to enable
Set to 1 to disable.

Thanks. I’m not sure what caused it, I have been looking for a while as well and do not see any software that claims to have set it.
